Appreciation day!
my domestic helpers...
2000-2002 : Norli ( 2 years )
2002-2005 : Tati ( 3 years )
2005-2006 : Ishak ( 1 year )
2006-present: Wati
Similarity: All had crashes with my grandma.
Norli: My impression of her is quite blur, cause it's some time back...
She speaks english.
She is not very hardworking, will not do extra cleaning unless told to do.
She sleep without clothes!!!
Incidents:
1) On her first few days, she bathed my grandma with tissue stuck in her nose!
My grandma was very angry and complained to my parents.
Kanna scolded, of course.
2) One night, my parents saw smoke coming out of her room.
The door is locked. We smelt cigarettes & thought she smoked.
My mom shouted her to stop smoking.
3) Once, I not sure what happened.
Think she made some grave mistakes, my mom get her sis to scold her over the phone.
Well, my aunt is experienced with maid stuffs.
I think shegot scared after that.
After her 2- year contract, she went back.
I found our family camera missing.
My sticker books are gone too...
She left a letter in her drawer for our next maid.
Tati told my mom.
Content is unknown. She wrote in her language.
She called back once, after she reached home.
Aniway, wish her ALL THE BEST!
Tati: My relations with her is very good. She came at the age of 17 or so and is childish too.
She speaks chinese!
She had work in Taiwan for 2 years before us.
There, she looked after a 100 year-old grandmother, who she said, do not like to bathe.
She is a fast learner and willing to learn.
She learnt Teochew fom my grandma while in S'pore.
She also learnt some english, mostly on her own.
She played with me badminton. A great player too.
Her family is not poor. But dont know why she came to work.
Her uncle works in Malaysia and will occasionally come to S'pore.
Guess what?! He gave her money, handphone and even bought her vcds!
She do not need to send money back to Indonesia.
She sent back a whole box of items back home just before she left.
Some items includes many vcds, posters, clothes, jeans and many many more!
She watch tv too. Chinese drama & Korean.
I remembered watching with her 'Stairway to Heaven' on SCV.
I helped her buy many vcds and korean cd too. She wanted them.
Eg. : MVP Valentine, Winter Sonata.
She is the lucky one.
She went with my family to Gentin.
During her time, my dad's pocket is heavier and she gained $ as well.
After her 2-year contract, she got a one week leave home.
Then she renewed her contract for 2 more years.
But more conflicts with my grandma.
Her Taiwan employer also called and asked her whether she wants to go there to work.
Somehow, she went back to Indonesia.
I did not send her to the airport cause i know i will be even sad.
When she left, i cried and called my mom phone to talk to her (Tati).
She called when she reached home.
About a year later, she called again.
She is in Hong Kong, working.
She said she looks after babies in the hospital and sundays are her off-days.
I wish her ALL THE BEST!
Ishak: She speaks malay and simple english.
She is married with a 4-year old child.
She has eyes that make people sleepy.
She is not a fast learner.
She is quite forgetful.
Well, her time here is quite short.
Her life seems to be very hard.
A year later, she received a call.
Her relative called when i just came home from school 1 day. She is crying.
Her relative said her husband is very sick, in hospital for quite some time already.
And asked her to come back immediately before hanging up suddenly.
We asked her to call back to check out more.
Her husband had been in hospital for quite some time and told his relatives not to inform
Ishak. As he do not want her to worry.
We suspect her husband is down with SARS as her family rear chickens.
We let her go back the next day, gave her some money.
I went to the airport.
I felt sad for her, but i did not cry.
She called and said she needed money for the hospital fees.
My parents sent some to her.
Few weeks later, she said her husband is out of danger.
But cant eat and cant recognise her.
May her hard work pay off, ALL THE BEST!
Wati: She speaks english.
She is here for half a year only, but it feels longer than that.
She is only 18 years old.
She is talkative to me but do not want to talk to my grandma.
If she did not talk to me, she feels lonely and she will cry!
I kind of scared of her.
She always call me "naughty" in a girly tone for NOTHING!
She wants attention.
Iwill kind of shiver whenever she calls me.
She knows 'black magic'!
She said she was very naughty in Indonesia. And i agree from her stories.
She never do homework, went out to watch concert after school, ride motobikes with
boys, smokes and has many boyfriends, at the same time!
She said her 1st bf died when he crossed the road to reach to her. Sounds so drama.
Then for the next 1 month, she dreamt of him!
He kept telling her that he loves her very much.
She went to look for black magician and after that she did not dream of him anymore.
Few weeks later in S'pore, her friend called to say her 2nd bf is marrying.
Not to her, of course.
But she has another, 3rd bf.
She said her 2nd bf is very handsome. And she likes him but not so much for the 3rd.
She said, 2 years later when she return home she wants back her 2nd bf!!! OMG!!!
She said she practised black magic before.
She is able to make boys smittered with her.
But that last for 1 month only.
I told her that would shorten her live span but she said Indonesians live to bout 50 only.
She also said she dont do that anymore.
She said when she return, she wants to put donno what gold needle into her eyes, so her
body will not rot when she dies. Some kind of black magic again.
OMG! She just called me again, for NOTHING!
She told me many ghost stories on pontianaks and black magics encounted by her friends.
She is damn crazy bout Shawn Lee!
She handed me a pair of sicssors and wanted me to cut out Shawn's pictures from my
magazine. I printed her a pict of Shawn and gave to her instead.
She kissed the pict!!!
She even asked her friend in CCK to check out where he lives!
She said if she sees Shawn, she will go up to him and kiss him!!! OMG!!!!!
Ask to take a photo too. She even asked me to ask my friend to take a photo of him when
they sees him.
Whenever i play the ' i not stupid too' theme song, she will giggle and say
" My song! Shawn, wo ai ni!" OMGOMGOMG!!!
Erm.. hope Shawn will not see my maid.
If not, i think she will be in the news headline!!! Hahax!
She said 1 1/2 years later, she go home, she wants to marry.
She keeps saying she wants my mom, dad and me, (dont want my grandparents) to go \
Indonesia to attend her wedding! Well, I dont want at all!!!
She then said she will use black magic to make me go there!!!
So, pls know where to look for me when i am missing...
